Breeding seals at Donna Nook

Donna Nook is one of the most accessible sites for seeing seals at a time of breeding in the UK. Elsewhere they either gather on beaches but in far away places like the Scottish islands, or they are out to sea in rocky outcrops. In Lincolnshire it is a short ride from Louth to the beach and there they are, from the end of October to early January. Last year there were almost 1000 pups born, so far this year around 700.

4-7 December

Lincoln Christmas Market

The Lincoln Christmas Market is an event not to be missed. More a Christmas experience than anything else, a trip to Lincoln is guaranteed to melt the heart of even the most avowed anti-shopper!

Imagine a cobbled square overlooked by a floodlit 12th Century cathedral, a Norman Castle and black and white timber-framed buildings. Brightly coloured stalls decorated with lights, selling every conceivable Christmas gift and the traders in Victorian costume.

The smell of chestnuts roasting, mince pies and a particularly potent hot mulled wine. The delicate sound of hand bell ringers or local choirs singing carols by lantern light, street theatre and beautiful services in the majestic Cathedral. These are just some of the reasons people flock to Lincoln at this special time of the year.

Book accommodation early for this major event!
